The Wastewater Division collects and treats the sewage produced by the citizens and businesses of Gillette. The Wastewater Division operates and maintains about 202.8 miles of sewer pipe and 10 lift stations. The wastewater is treated at a conventional activated sludge treatment plant with anaerobic digestion and UV disinfection.
The wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) treats an average of 3.2 MGD (million gallons per day). The reclaimed biosolids are composted and sold to the public as the Class A biosolids product Stonepile Soil Amendments.
Biosolid compost is available for for $10 per cubic yard, and Yard Waste compost is available for $15 per cubic yard.
