The primary mission of the Building Inspection Division is to ensure buildings are constructed in compliance with the City's adopted construction codes; building safety is the division's number one concern.

Gillette has a Code Compliance Program that deals with nuisance complaints and issues such as tall weeds and grass. This program operates year-round and has been very successful in keeping with the City’s beautification plan.

The Engineering Division is comprised of the Regulatory Division, Capital Projects Division and Traffic Safety.

Capital Projects Division Provides a broad range of professional civil and municipal engineering services to develop, maintain and improve the City's infrastructure with our Capital Improvement Program. 

Regulatory Division Reviews all subdivision, annexation and development proposals, and commercial building permits within the planning district boundaries and must review, approve and permit the infrastructure improvements within the same. 

Traffic Safety Division Performs a variety of activities associated with traffic signs, signals, pavement markings, and traffic studies to improve and help maintain a safe transportation network within the City of Gillette.

The Planning Division administers the Zoning Ordinances and Subdivision Regulations for the City of Gillette. Planning staff reviews and issues permits for current development activities of homeowners and developers.

Gillette hosts Wyoming Conference of Building Officials June 12th - 14th, 2013
The City of Gillette and Campbell County will host the Wyoming Conference of Building Officials (WCBO.) The WCBO is dedicated to building safety through education, and this conference will include the 2013 WCBO Business Meeting, Educational Seminar, and Coal Mine Tour.
Road Construction Updates - Burma Avenue Railroad Crossing Closed to Through Traffic
The City of Gillette announces road construction updates, including the complete closure of the Burma Avenue railroad closing, as well as lane closures for the 4J Road/Boxelder Road intersection, and an extension of the Westover Road closure.

Road Construction Updates - May 15, 2013
The City of Gillette announces the following road construction updates for Westover Road, 1st Street/Burma Avenue, 4J Road/Boxelder Road, and Lakeway Road.
Emergency Lane Closure - Burma Avenue
The City of Gillette announced an emergency lane closure on northbound Burma Avenue from 1st Street to Larch Street (just south of Warlow Drive.) The lane closure is to allow crews to inspect and repair a water main leak. The southbound lane of Burma Avenue from Warlow Drive to 1st Street will remain open.
